Founded more than 21 years ago by enthusiastic vegetarians James White and Anne Madden. They wanted to provide high-quality, vegetarian cuisine free of artificial flavors and colors, which were severely deficient at the time. As the company grew, its founders became aware of the benefits of consuming and producing organic food, so they started creating their products in accordance with the exacting standards established by the European Union for the production of organic foods. They presently sell more than 80% organic products, and unless there is an incredibly compelling reason not to, they will keep doing so. Despite the enormous growth of organic products in the UK, they nevertheless do business in accordance with their basic moral ideals.
